IN SPITE OF… (a fragment)

As a matter of questioning the reality we are living in the city of Monterrey, which has been kidnapped by the drug war violence. This is ourway to stand up against violence, questioning many feelings as strong as fear in a poetic action that involves dance, performance, singing, closed circuit video, live cinema and projections.

IN SPITE OF… a fragment,  has been presented at the Theater of the Cultural Institute of México in San Antonio, and the Little Carver Theater in San Antonio, Texas as part of the special collaboration and invitation with Seme Jatib from Proyectos en Movimiento dance company.

It also qualified and was presented as part of the national contemporary dance festival XXVII EMDC (Encuentro Metropolitano de Danza Conetmporánea) at the Gran Sala del Teatro de la Ciudad in Monterrey, México.

During summer we had 3 presentations in the Teatro del Centro de las Artes, Monterrey, as part of MOMENTS_ Contemporary Dance & Live Cinema.  It developted through 3 acts or AV performances. For which a specific projection design was developt in situ according to each of the 3 performances and individual concepts to convey different emotions.

VjThai (Roxana T. Barraza) with Media Selectah´s collaboration, worked with dancer/singer artist Radha Murillo to developt MOMENTS a multidisciplinary performance involving dance, singing, realtime experimental video realization, video projection design, videomapping, electronic & electroacustic music, with different levels of interaction, to convey emotions and ideas about the present moment and a poetic protest against violence.

Media Selectah´s projection design Involving 2 video projectors, 1 video camera with closed circuit, live videoperformance using the softwareResolume Avenue by VjThai. Incorporating previous recordings and footage fromthe city of Monterrey, tv news, and postproduction work with Final Cut Pro.
